Sample of your name in Kanji（regular, semi-cursive style, cursive style）
In the case of a foreign name, the teacher will suggest a kanji name.
Teacher will also ask you what kanji you would like to use and make a suggestion taking into consideration the meaning of the kanji and the auspiciousness of the stroke count.

This course is designed to mirror the same regimen a 15-year old Japanese student would undertake to become a serious student of calligraphy.

【Notes for Enrolling】
1. You must join the Bunka Shodo Gakkai (https://www.bunkashodo.co.jp). This is a permanent membership. Once you join, you can take a break for any number of years and resume your membership with a simple procedure. Of course, you will keep your Dan ranking. (There is a fee for resumption of membership.) We will take care of the enrollment fee and materials fee for the "Cultural Calligraphy Course All Courses" included in the "Preparation Set for the Examination Course" of Shodo Japan, and we will arrange for the transfer to the Calligraphy Society.
2. Since the certification examination is conducted by the Calligraphers' Association, you are required to send the original work for the certification assignment to our company by mail. Please note that you will be responsible for shipping costs. (We will take care of all the necessary procedures, including sending the work to the Calligraphy Society.)
3. Although you can take the examination every month, it's quite challenging to take the examination every month due to the requirement to submit two or more works for each grade level. It is advisable to take the examination every 2 to 3 months to focus on creating successful works.
4. The deadline for examination submissions is the 25th of each month to reach the calligraphy society. Therefore, please send your works to Shodo Japan by the 20th to ensure timely delivery.
5. After the examination, if you pass, you will receive a certificate of acceptance. This will be sent to you by mail. If you fail, we will receive a notice of rejection and the rejected work. In this case, we will inform to you and give you advice on how to rewrite the work.
6. Separate examination fees are required for taking the proficiency examination. This fee is necessary even for reexamination at the same grade level after failing. (The fee varies depending on the grade, but it is approximately ¥1,200 to ¥1,800.)
7. Once you pass the 3-dan test, you can apply for a shihan license. A separate application fee of 30,000 yen is required to apply for a shihan license. We will also take care of this fee and transfer it to the Bunka Shodo Gakkai of Japan. After that, we will send you the license.
8. The final stage of the examination is the 6-dan level. This is for those who wish to continue their studies even after obtaining a Shihan license.
